ROLLING

I'VE ALWAYS HAD A THING FOR TRAVELERS.
ITS A CLICHE, ROMANTIC PREOCCUPATION DEEPLY ROOTED IN MY MORE FORMATIVE YEARS OF STUDY, A WANDERLUST INSTILLED IN ME BY MY MOTHER, WHO ALSO HAD A FASCINATION WITH NOMADIC TRIBES, ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS WHO ROLLED AROUND, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE ADORNMENT AND CRAFT.

AND THE SLIGHTLY MORE CINEMATIC NOMADS, (AS ENVISIONED BY MR. ANDERSON, ABOVE) ARE EQUALLY FUN, IF NOT SLIGHTLY MORE ACCESSIBLE.

I LOVE THE IDEA OF BEING ABLE TO GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT AN AGENDA, TO BE A STRANGER, OPEN MINDED AND ANONYMOUS, IS ENDLESSLY APPEALING FOR SOME REASON. TO ME, THIS IS THE IDEA OF THE BOHEMIAN.

IT IS WITH THIS SPIRIT THAT I STARTED SEWING, CRAFTING CLOTHES THAT HAVE A LIFE OF THEIR OWN AND HOLD ONTO THEIR OWN HISTORIES. THEY HAVE TAKEN ME ON ADVENTURES AND BECOME MY SECOND SKIN, MY DAILY COSTUME AS ALIX OF BOHEMIA.
ITS TOTALLY THRILLING TO BE ABLE TO SHARE THESE GARMENTS, AND THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THEM AS WE RELIVE THE EXPERIENCES WHICH MAKE UP THIS COLLECTION OF 2012.

COME ON IN, MY PARTY PEOPLE, THE WATERS FINE.

ABOVE, AT THE CARNEROS INN IN SONOMA COUNTY CALIFORNIA, WEARING THE ALIX OF BOHEMIA 2012 PAN DRESS  IN WHITE SPOT COTTON WITH A HANDMADE TASSEL BELT.

MERCI TO MY CAMERA MAN, CAMP DIRECTOR AND TRAVEL COMPANION, THE VERY HANDSOME MR. JASPER.
