FILM: THE BIG NIGHT

I AM CONSTANTLY REMINDED AND CONSISTENTLY ENCHANTED BY THE NOTION OF LIFE AS A BANQUET (THANK YOU AUNTIE MAME).
AND REALLY, WHO BETTER TO DEMONSTRATE SUCH A TRANSFORMATIVE EXPERIENCE AS A DELICIOUS DINNER THAN STANLEY (TUCCI) AND THE ALWAYS PROVOCATIVE ISABELLA (ROSSELINI) IN THIS CULT CLASSIC:
SCENES FROM ANOTHER KIND OF BIG NIGHT; A BIG BIRTHDAY FETE FIT FOR A PRINCE, UP ON THE ROOFTOP:
WEEKS WERE SPENT HAND CUTTING AND STITCHING YARDS AND YARDS OF WHITE BUNTING, WHICH FLAPPED OVER A FEAST OF ARANCINI, ROASTED TOMATO PORKLOIN, SAFFRON PAPARDELLE AND CHOCOLATE CAKE. SURELY PRIMO WOULD  APPROVE.
